Cialis and Other Ways of Treating Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is a very common condition that can cause a number of adverse effects in a man's life. It can lead to depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and relationship problems among other things. Although it is most common in older men, it can affect men at all ages. Many men do not want to seek treatment because they are embarrassed about the problem. However, fortunately erectile dysfunction is usually easy to treat. Since it is so common, there is nothing to be embarrassed about!

If you talk with a group of friends about erectile dysfunction treatment, medication is probably the first thing that comes to mind. Viagra is one very popular drug, but newer options like Cialis are also available. Generic Cialis, and other drugs, belongs to a class of drugs referred to as PDE5-inhibitors. Not only is Cialis safe and effective, but it also has perks over Viagra such as a longer effect time and less dependability on stomach contents.

All of these drugs work in basically the same way – they work with your body to increase blood flow to the penis, thus making stronger and longer lasting erections. Your penis is made up of two chambers that are referred to as the corpora cavernosa. These chambers are filled with spongy tissue and smooth muscle, veins, and arteries. When you are participating in sexual activity, these chambers are filled with blood, and this causes an erection.

There are many different conditions – psychological and physiological – that can decrease blood flow to the corpora cavernosa. Cialis and other drugs only treat this symptom, not the underlying cause. Therefore, generic Cialis is not a cure for erectile dysfunction. Nonetheless, millions of men around the world use these drugs safely and effectively.

Although these drugs work similarly, there are small differences and you might have different dosage requirements for each one. All are available only by prescription, so you will need to consult a physician first.

Another way of treating erectile dysfunction is through injection therapy. Injection therapy involves injecting a solution into the base of the penis using a narrow needle. This solution causes an erection. You might get a strong effect using this method, but there are side effects and the injection can cause pain or discomfort.

You also have the option of alprostadil. Alprostadil is a small pellet that is inserted into your urethra. There are very few side effects with this method, however, some men may experience discomfort during the first insertion.

If you want to avoid medications, you can opt for a penis pump. This is considered an old method of treatment, but is still used by some men when drugs are not an option.

Extreme methods of treating erectile dysfunction include having penile implant surgery. There are two common methods of penile implants – inflatable and a semi-rigid rod. Both are inserted into the corpora cavernosa to give artificial erections.

Finally, since erectile dysfunction is a symptom, your best bet is to address and treat the underlying cause. Hopefully this will cure your erectile dysfunction long-term.
